Robert Cline, MSW, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist dedicated to helping people better understand and manage the sometimes overwhelming areas of their lives.

Much of my work is surrounded by the strong belief that everyone can confidently lead an open, secure, proud, and fulfilling life. My approach to therapy is to provide a safe and welcoming space that fosters a strong therapeutic connection and encourages people to better understand their identity, emotions, needs, and desires. I strive to offer a person-centered, tailored experience while maintaining the belief that everyone’s unique identities and how they move through the world are very important.

For more than a decade, I have provided treatment for men’s issues, anxiety and mood disorders, interpersonal concerns, assisting people to embrace their sexual orientation, and gender-affirming care. As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and a sex-positive professional, I am particularly passionate about treating individuals within the community through some of the unique challenges that we may face while remembering that our journeys are all different.

My eclectic therapeutic process integrates components of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Object-Relations Therapy, and Ego Psychology. My therapy style is generally more informal and should feel like a casual conversation while still maintaining respect, compassion, empathy, humor, acceptance, and understanding.

I earned my Master’s in Social Work in 2009 from Fordham University in New York prior to relocating to North Carolina in 2015. In addition to counseling, I have developed and presented continuing educational workshops for professional and non-professional staff on a variety of topics including sexual orientation and gender identity, first-episode psychosis, medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorders, and eating disorders. I also offer clinical supervision to Licensed Clinical Social Work Associates (LCSW-A).

I presently live in the Raleigh area with my partner and four-legged furry children. When I am not working, I enjoy being creative, spending time in the garden, exploring the different elements of nature, cooking and trying new foods, and traveling.

Insurance: BCBS, Aetna, UHC, and Out-of-Network for all others.
